Intuit Online Tax Advisor Qualifications and Requirements

These tax advisor positions are certified for public accountants, enrolled agents, and tax attorneys who support TurboTax products by phone, email, and chat and provide written-tax solutions to customers.

Also, full-and part-time seasonal positions are available and some seasonal agents are promoted to permanent positions in management. During tax season, you are to expect 30 to 40 hours of work per week. The season begins with paid coaching which consists of sessions starting from November to January, and the season ends in late April.

There are several established schedules that take up to the hours of 5 am-9 pm, 7 days per week. But, you may be required to take on extra shifts.

The requirements for this position are strict. They include:

  1.    Valid credentials as an enrolled agent or CPA and tax identification number as a preparer.
  2.    A minimum of 5 years experience in preparing federal and state returns.
  3.    Extensive knowledge of tax laws
  4.    Experience in using tax preparation software.
  5.    Good verbal and written communication skills.
  6.    The ability to work with little or no supervision.
  7.    The ability to research IRS and state publications, regulations and GAAP publications.
  8.    Bilingual ability and experience in electronic filing and software troubleshooting.

As an advisor, you will need a quiet workplace, with a computer and phone and should be willing to commit to working for 30 to 40 hours per week.
